A Fresh Look for My Blog
Mar 29, 2009 Techy Stuff
OK, I finally updated my blog. So take the extra step and click past Bloglines/Google Reader to take a look at my hard work. It’s about 90% finished. I want to work on a few behind the scenes features over the next week. When I’m all done, I’ll write about my redesign process. It’s been quite the adventure.
Update Blog Software. Check!
Dec 11, 2008 Techy Stuff
I know you’re all dying to read about me updating my blog software. It’s exciting stuff. It all started with me deciding that before I could update my theme, I needed to update the software to support all the new fancy widget and such. I use WordPress hosted on bluehost. As a service, bluehost provides WordPress installation via scripts. Unfortantely for me I was behind on my upgrades. Upgrade path included:
- Upgrading to 2.6.5 via Fantastico
- Switching from Fantastico script installer to Simple Scripts
- Upgrading from 2.6.5 to 2.7 (released today)
The upgrade went better than I could imagine. My blog is up and running. I like the new admin interface. Now I just need design a new theme. Fun stuff.
Have You Seen the New iPod Nano?
Sep 10, 2008 Techy Stuff

Aren’t they cute? I love the saturated colors. They make me feel cheerful. I bet a lot of people will be really cheerful when they find their bright nano under the Christmas Tree this holiday season. The green one is calling my name, but I’ll ignore the call. I don’t need it. My first generation nano works great. When it does die, I’ll upgrade to the iPhone. Until I have my own new toy, I’ll just admire these pretty Nanos
Learning a New Thing or Two
Feb 27, 2008 Techy Stuff
As I mentioned in my goals for 2008, I want to redesign my blog. However, I don’t want to try to conform my look to fit inside an existing template. I’d rather create my look and make a template to fit my look. This means I need to learn a thing or two about WordPress. To help me, I checked out WordPress for Dummies.
What’s my plan? Read enough of this book to get any idea of what is possible. (One of the chapters is about using WordPress as a content management tool. Kind of a cool concept.) Then I’ll plan a layout and make it happen. I’m excited to make it all happen
