Spring Break: Seattle and Victoria
Yesterday, Ross and I returned from a seven-day trip to Seattle and Victoria.
Instead of boring you with a play by play of the vacation, let me hit the highlights.
Space Needle: Yes, it’s the typical tourist thing to do; yes, it’s expensive; and yes, it’s fun. We splurged for dinner. I have to say it was the most relaxing meal that I’ve had in long time. Ross and I enjoyed being with one another and viewing the cityscape.
Sci Fi Museum: The inner geek in me loved seeing the Battlestar Galatica stuff.
Victoria Clipper: We took the ferry from Seattle to Victoria. The trip is about 2 hrs 45 minutes. I read and let the boat rock me to sleep for a cat nap. On this ferry, there was plenty of room for people and there are actual electrical plugs for electronic gadgets. Airlines could learn a thing or two from ferries.
Royal British Columbia Museum: I know I’m getting old when I think museums are fun. I can’t help myself. The highlight was the Yellow Submarine Royals Royce. We got about half way through the museum. You could easily make a whole day of it.
Kinokuniya Book Store: This is an Asian bookstore in the International District in Seattle. I believe the primary purpose it to sell books in Japanese, Korean, and Chinese, which is a good thing. However, I was interested in the Japanese craft books and the Japanese office supplies and Sanrio swag. I walked away without a Japanese craft book. It’s hard to justify $30 on a book you can’t read, just because the pictures are pretty. I did buy some gel pens and decorative masking tape. While those items seem trivial, I keep reminding myself of all the things I didn’t buy (can you say cute erasers?). If I were eight, I would have a good use for a lot more of the merchandise. Next time, I visit this store, I’m leaving my husband and brother at home.
Well that covers a few things. If you are dying for more pictures, you can visit my flickr collection.

lol I’m a huge Sanrio freak! But I too – always hold back from buying it. I hate being an adult!
