My Name Is…
Instead of making name tags for each member of the Salt Lake Modern Quilt Guild, we decided that everybody would make their own. I tried to complete mine before the last meeting, but I ran into technical problems. That’s what happens when you start the night before. I corrected my ways and finished my tag. I printed my tag on inkjet fabric sheets. I like to use Printed Treasures. I included my blog logo. I [...]

First Completed Quilt for 2011
Last week, I completed my first quilt for 2011. I named it Hera. At the end of last year, I decided I needed a naming convention for my quilts. Since I use Greek mythological character names to name other things like my bike, my cats, and my computer, I thought I should continue the tradition and give my quilts Greek mythological character names. I get my names from this nice list on wikipedia. Anyways, I named [...]

February Bee Block
My February bee block is done! I’m happy with the end result. I did press my seams open, which made the block really flat. I think I need to press my seams open more often. I’ll give myself a little pep talk to make that happen. Back to the block, if I were to make a lot of these blocks, I’d need to figure out how to streamline the process. Otherwise this one block, could [...]

A Sense of Accomplishment
I spent the week plodding along on my current projects making progress, but not finishing anything. Today, I just want to have something to show for my time and effort. Then low and behold, I found a great tutorial for a Kanzashi flower. In about 30 minutes I made my flower, and I even pinned it to my coat. So not only is it done. I’ve put it to good use as well. I even [...]

A Quick Recap
I really need to post more than once a week. Then I would know where to start. First, last week I got my labels from Label Crew Club. When these labels grow up, they’ll be cute birthday tags. I hope to get on this soon. On Saturday, I hit Ikea. My mission was to return a few items and buy pillow inserts. I managed to return some items and buy pillow inserts. Unfortunately, I didn’t [...]

Weekend Quilting Progress
Over the weekend, I made a bit of progress on the checkerboard quilt. The middle is quilted with a cross-hatch design. I need to bury the threads and quilt the border. I’m planning on using a pebble design. I can’t decide if the quilt is too white. I may have gotten stuck on the thought of using a solid so that the printed fabric could stand out. The back and the binding is a bright [...]
