My First Quilt Bee Block

At the end of the year, I decided that I wanted to participate in a quilt bee. I hopped on over to the Quilting Bee Blocks flickr group, and posted a note that I was looking for a bee. Within 24 hours, I received a message reply, and I joined a the {Modern 12} Bee. Without further ado, my first bee block:

In this bee, we are using our own fabric. The queen bee for each month chooses a block and color palette. So far so good. I finished it last night and mailed it today. Yea for being ahead of schedule.

After finishing the block, I packed up my machine for a trip to the deal for a tune-up. It’s hanging out with Katie’s machine for the weekend. The feed dogs and the bobbin tension need an adjustment. The nice person, who looked over my machine with me, mentioned that it could probably use a new bobbin case. Apparently, the new bobbin cases have a better design. So I’ve already tacked on $25 dollars to my expected fee. Really as long as it runs like it’s new, it will be worth it.

Since I only have one sewing machine (I know a huge crime against humanity), I’ve made myself a list of other things to do over the next 5-7 days.

  • Update quilt guild website
  • Update WordPress
  • Create new banner for blog
  • Finish making yo-yo’s
  • Read my book-group book, Precious Bane
  • Clean the house (only if I’m really bored)

It will be interesting to how much I really get done over the next week.
