It’s Back
Saturday morning, I picked up my machine from the dealer and quickly put it to work. The tune-up was money well spent. I now get perfectly even stitches and zero tension problems. Yea for me!
Originally, I planned on finished the checkboard quilt that I started pre-tune-up. But I’m still waiting for the remaining fabric to appear on my doorstep. So I went with plan B, finishing some pillows for our bed.
These pillows and the accompanying quilt have been in the works for close to three years. I know. Far too long. I’ve avoided finishing the quilt because I was afraid of trying to quilt a huge quilt by myself. Well I finally decided to just bite the bullet and finish it. These pillows were a perfect warm up.
Pillow details: the pillows measure 30″ x 20″. The pillow covers, minus the flange, measure 29.5 x 19.5. I wish the pillow cover was a bit tighter. Next time, I’ll make smaller covers. The back is an envelope closure. Based on a tutorial I found on the web, I made the overlap 10″. I think it’s too much. It was a bit of work getting the pillows in the pillow covers. An overlap of 5-6″ will be more than sufficient. At least that’s what I’m going to try on my next pillow.
Now I just need to bust a move and baste the big quilt.

Love the pillows!! What pattern are you doing for the quilt?
The quilt top is done. http://www.creativequiltgirl.com/2008/11/bed-quilt-nearly-done/. I just need to quilt. I’ll buy the back this weekend. Then I’m off and running.
