New Fabric to Play With

For the most part, I’ve been fairly loyal to local quilt shops and have avoided buying my fabric online.  Well, I’ve decided that as much as I love my local quilt shops, they just don’t carry what I want. Well more like, I’d need to go to several stores to get what I want, and I simply don’t have the time for it. So, I bought a custom pack of 1/2 yard prints from Fabric Worm.

I really like the idea of the custom packs. I got prints from several designers, including Echino, Denyse Schmidt, and Monaluna. The base fabrics range from normal quilters cotton to linen to organic cotton. Last night, I washed them. The linens softened right up. I’m not sold on the organic cotton. It still feels a little too crispy for my liking.

I did make one trip to a local quilt store for a few more fabrics.

The top two are for the quilt top. I wish they were a touch brighter. I hope the other fabrics can support these more subdued prints. The bottom fabric is for the binding. I like dots on my binding.
