A Cozy Home for My Nook

It’s amazing what I can accomplish when I don’t have committments outside of work. After blogging last night, I got to work on finishing my Nook case. I cut down the fabric and started quilting. Since I only need a scrap-size piece of batting, I had many choices to choose from. I went with fusible batting. It was very easy to work with and didn’t require any pinning. Originally, I planned on quilting a stippling design. [...]

What’s Up with WordPress

I just published a couple of posts that were stuck in draft status when I thought they published. I really need to be careful. So even though the content is out of order, all of it is there. I mostly do this for my own sake. It makes me feel better to see my projects move along. Really I need to figure out how to change the post dates. Then my content will appear in [...]

New Fabric to Play With

For the most part, I’ve been fairly loyal to local quilt shops and have avoided buying my fabric online.  Well, I’ve decided that as much as I love my local quilt shops, they just don’t carry what I want. Well more like, I’d need to go to several stores to get what I want, and I simply don’t have the time for it. So, I bought a custom pack of 1/2 yard prints from Fabric [...]

Bewitched by Diamonds

For Christmas, I got a NOOKColor, which I love, love, love. Now I can’t be a normal person and just buy a ready-made cover. I have to make my own. I further complicate the matter by imagining elaborate designs for my little nook cover. Lately, I’ve really been bewitched by a couple of quilts using diamonds. Now by no means is this a new design, but executed with just the right fabrics it looks rather [...]

Ready to Gift

I finished with days to spare. Final thoughts… Pattern: As I mentioned before, I used the New Wave pattern from Oh Fransson! No regrets in choosing this pattern. If I use this design again, I think I’d use an odd number of fabrics so the end blocks tumble the same. That’s a personal preference. Also I highly recommend laying out the fabric so the sashing gets sewn on the correct side of the block. I [...]
