Assembly Line for Scrappy Blocks

OK, in the beginning I was all about going with the flow with the scrappy log cabin blocks. I didn’t mind not knowing how many blocks I’d end up with or not knowing about the end quilt size. While buy the time I finished the green blocks, I decided I needed a better outlook. So I got all organized.

I’ve cut up the red and blue strips, sorted them into little piles, and placed them on card stock. The card stock thing is a little different. I chain piece on paper’s worth of block at a time. This keeps me productive without mixing all the blocks together.

The yellow blocks are in the process of being cut. I decided to add orange and the leftover pink to the yellow pile. Without a bit of color help, the individual yellow pieces just melt into one another. When everything is cut and sorted, I’ll have an idea on how many blocks I’ll have. Then I can start to plan the quilt. Sometimes I think planning the quilt, is my favorite part of the process.
