My Christmas Village

When I was a teenager my aunts and mom started buying my Grandma Christmas village pieces for birthday. My eyes were open to the world of collecting Christmas collectables. She was lucky. My aunts and mom sprung for a Dept. 56 village. I thought one day I’d have enough money to start my own Christmas Village. Well after 11 years of marriage there never seems to enough Christmas money to splurge on a village. Well until this year.

On Saturday, I discovered that Lowe’s had their all their Christmas decor, including Christmas Village pieces, on a 50% sale. Of course they aren’t Dept. 56 pieces, but they’re still a village. I think Lowe’s carries a private label version of Lemax pieces. I tried to buy Victorian looking houses. My village:

Now that have a start I can buy a piece or two every year, and my village will grow into a real village. I did come up with a couple of good ideas for my village. Instead of using batting for snow, I used white fleece. My cats would have a hay day with batting. I’d come home to bits of batting every where. On the other hand, my cats respect fleece. It’s blankie material.

A few other Christmas decorations. Calypso has decided to become an additional animal in our manager scene.
