Lots to Write About

First, I’m done with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. At 12:06 am Saturday morning, I walked out the door of Smith’s with my copy, and by 10:00 pm Sunday night I was done. I didn’t think I’d finish in one weekend. I couldn’t help myself. Once I got started, I couldn’t stop. I’m OK with my Harry Potter nerd status. I’m glad at done. A couple of my co-workers also finished the book. I wouldn’t want them to spoil the end for me. Tonight I finally get to see the movie Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Then I’ll feel like my Harry Potter summer is complete. Actually, I might add a wand making party to my agenda in August. My SIL and I were sadly disappointed with the wands we made at the library. In fact, my cats successfully destroyed it already. I want something more durable than a straw.

Second, I can pick up my sewing machine tomorrow from the repair shop. Diagnoise: feed dogs needed an adjustment and tension was way off. I really want to know how the tension got off. Oh, well. It’s fixed and soon it will be home with me.

To get things started I’m going to make some hot pads that I desperately need. I like it when I can actually take care of need without going to store. Of course I’ve been to the store plenty of times to build up my stash of supplies.

Third, I finally found some fabric that I like to make a new quilt for our bed. I’ve been looking for about a year for the perfect fabric. My focus fabric comes from the Bleeker Street line by Michele D’Amore. I love it! I wanted a floral, but not a shabby chic, cottage floral. My husband is easy going. However, at the rate that I update our bedroom (once every 10 years) lots of flowers could push him over the edge. This floral has a nice Jacobean look. I think I’m going to learn more about the Jacobean era.

Focus Fabric

Last night I drafted the quilt. I need seven more coordinating fabrics similiar in value. My focus fabric will be apart of the mix. Since I purchased 3 yards, I’ll use the remaining fabric for throw pillows and some sort of curtain accessory.
