My First Pincushion

OK, I know I’m a little late to join the pincushion craze. I had the best of intentions to make pincushions before now. For some reason it just didn’t happen until I found myself wanting to do something by hand and holding this pattern (by Blooming Stitches) in my hand. It all came together.

Pincushion #1

Of course I’ve added my own personal touch to my pincushion. Iused new hand dyed flossed that was burning a hole in my pocket, and I added the buttons to control the puffiness.

Pincushion: 4 sidesAll it needs now are some flower pins or maybe I should make my own special pin. I’ve seen others use that shrink a dink stuff and sculty clay. My niece will be in town soon. I bet I could talk her into playing with clay.

  • Now that is just down right cute! I’m not sure what buttons you’re talking about , but it doesn’t look too puffy to me. I could so see myself making one with charm squares since they’re 5″x5″. Is this the beginning of a pincushion craze? :o )

  • I think the pin cushion looks really good. I think it’s so nice to make something a bit smaller than usual as you get that feeling of satisfaction when it’s completed.

  • Its fabulous!

  • It’s adorable, the embroidery is great!
