30 Days
Nov 30, 2006 Life
Today is the last day of NaBloPoMo. I did it! I’m so pleased with myself. The daily blogging process helped me in so many ways. It motivated me to come up with good content for each post. In turn my quilting/crafting productivity improved. This is good timing, considering Christmas is around the corner. I owe a debt of gratitude to the love my life, Ross. He supported me all month long. He only sighed a little bit when I asked him to get off the computer so I could blog. Thanks, sweetie.
So now what? While I don’t think I can maintain the daily blog post, I’m going to try to post several times a week. I enjoy the process of making something and sharing it with the world. Also, I plan on working on aesthetics of my blog. I need pictures that reflect my personality. Plus I don’t please my feed forward thing is working. I need to either fix or great multiple feeds. I really hope I can fix the feed forward thing.
Thanks for reading!
Home At Last!
Nov 29, 2006 Life
After work I picked up my sewing machine. I feel so much better knowing that it is in its place.

So what’s on my docket for tonight? Unfortanetly cleaning. This closet is out of control.

I will attempt to regain control. Wish me luck!
Fabric for Christmas Stockings
Nov 28, 2006 Quilting
Last night I cut up charm pack squares and sewed them together to make these pieces of fabric. The red & green fabric will be Ross’ stocking. The pink, red, and brown fabric will be my stocking.

Now that I have this much done, I’ve decided that the fabric needs to be quilted. I have plenty of batting scraps that I could use. However, I don’t think the batting is right for the stockings. They’ll be too thick. These stockings are actually on the small side. I think I should use a nice thick flannel. I don’t have any flannel in my stash. Now, I need to make a choice. Do I buy flannel or use the batting? I really wanted to make the stockings with stuff on hand. Ugh! I have a feeling that I’m going to cave and buy flannel.
Random Thoughts…
Nov 27, 2006 Life
Here are today’s random thoughts from my head:
- My iPod is loaded with Christmas tunes. Believe it or not, I don’t get tired of Christmas music. I could listen to it all year long, but then there would be nothing special about getting to listen to Christmas music.

- Typekey is starting to annoy me. When I post to blogs that require typekey authentication, it links my name to my typekey profile. I want it to link my name to my URL. Does anybody know how to fix this? I’ve looked all over the typekey site with not success.
- I’m thinking about making Christmas stockings with my leftover charm pack. I’m going to cut the squares into 2.5 inch squares. Then piece the squares into fabric. I can’t decide if I should quilt the stocking. The answer dictates how I’ll finish them. Just when I think I’ve made a decision, I change my mind. I think I’m losing it. This is where I’m going.

- Today I found this post on Shim + Sons. I absolutely love this idea. I need to find a font that I like and make my stamp. Then I need to find linen tape. Before anybody knows it, I’ll post my tag to everything I make.
A Quilter’s Christmas Tree
Nov 26, 2006 Quilting
A couple of months ago, I started working on this little embroidery project. I saved the project for moments when I needed a hand work project. Last night I stitched my last embroidery stitch, and today I assembled it into a wall hanging.

I used this Moda charm pack for my assorted red and greens. It worked perfectly. I was able to use several prints without buying fat quarters. Since I successfully used this charm pack, I think I’ll buy more.

I took me most of the late afternoon early evening to finish this project. I made it into a wall hanging instead of a pillow. I’m not much of a pillow girl. It won’t be hard to find a wall to decorate. I changed the top row of blocks. I think mine looks better than the pattern.
I didn’t want to go through the pain of attaching a binding. Instead, I added a narrow dark green border that looks like it could be binding. I sewed all the front, back, and batting together into an envelope. Then I turned it right side-out. I whip stitched the hole closed, and ironed it into shape. I think I’m going to add a little hand quilt to give it a little definition.

I kind of proud of myself. I finished a Christmas project well before Christmas. Now I need to decide what to do with the remains of the charm pack. If I can finish quilting “the quilt” soon, I’ll turn the charm pack into Christmas stockings.
Another Dull Post
Nov 25, 2006 Life
If I weren’t trying to post every day, I probably woudn’t blog today. So I search for a writing topic. Today is a lazy day. Ross wanted to host a movie day with my family. So day we are watching “Movies that wouldn’t have succeeded without Gene Hackman.” We’ve watched Unforgiven and French Connection I. Still in the queue are French Connection II and Royal Tantumbaums.
The first two movies were interrupted by the Utah v. BYU football game. Sadly Utah lost in the final 3 seconds. As for the movies, it is interesting to watch movies that I probably wouldn’t select myself. At least I can now say I’ve seen the movies.
