Blog Changes

My blog is in a state of flux. I needed to change my hosting provider by the end of the month. I decided to move to BlueHost. Ross hosts his site there. We are allowed to host up to six domains. Cool. Due to too many committments, I waited until Sunday night to move my blog. After hours of effort, I cound not get movabletype to work. UGH! So I decided to bag it. BlueHost offers WordPress with a nice setup of feature.

In less than 1 hour, I setup my blog and imported my entries from movabletype. Regrets? A few. I’ve used movabletype for several years. While it wasn’t perfect, I knew how to use it. Now I need to learn the ins and outs of WordPress.

So far, I’m impressed. It was easy to import my entries. I don’t think I lost any content. I found a template that I can use as a frame for how I want my blog to look. Now I need to make my blog my own. The task include:

  • Header graphic
  • About page
  • Blogroll/favorite sites
  • Reduce archive month list to 12 months with a more archives link on the end of the list
  • Add a goals section
  • Add my webring stuff
  • Make sure my rss feed is working

I’m sure I need to do more. I just can’t think of anything else. No matter. This list will keep me busy for a while.

Tonight I give out candy. I’ll post a lovely picture of the pumpkin I carved. I’m quite proud.

Too long

Too much time has past since my last post. I don’t know why. I’ve been busy making stuff or at least busy starting projects. My current work-in-progress is refinishing some old chairs. (I don’t have pictures today. You’ll have to use your imagination.) About eight years ago, my grandma gave me three chairs and a table. They were covered in lime green paint. This was all before lime green was trendy.

I decided to strip off the paint. I had to strip the paint regardless of the color. there were too many layers of paint. I managed to strip the table and two chairs. I painted the table. It is now our printer/paper stand, very functional. For various reason, I never got around to painting the two chairs. Instead I’ve just been using them.

I decide that I needed to finish old unfinished projects. I’ve been feeling the imperfections with wood putty and sanding the rough stops. One chair is ready to be primed. By the end of week I want have the second chair to be ready. I’m out of town this week. This means, I’ll have a lot to do this week. I’m up to the challenge.

I think if I stay on task with the priming, I’ll be able to prime next week. Oh, I need the progress. I’ve even add the goals to my side bar. I need to decide how many months of goals I should keep on my side bar. A question for another day.
